Country: Italy Region: Tuscany Sub-Region: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
Varietal: 100% Sangiovese
A medium-deep garnet-ruby with slight brick reflections at the rim (typical of an 11-year-old Brunello).
Bright, clear, and elegant in the glass.
A beautifully developed, traditional Brunello bouquet: Red cherry, dried cherry, plum, dried rose, potpourri, subtle violet, cedar, sandalwood, tobacco leaf, subtle leather, hints of orange peel, underbrush, fennel seed, and a touch of earthy spice.
Oak is well-integrated—more structural than aromatic
The 2013 vintage was cooler and more classical, and the aromas reflect that lifted, aromatic clarity.
A refined, traditional, age-worthy Brunello profile: Medium-full body with vibrant, cool-vintage acidity.
Flavours of sour cherry, redcurrant, blood orange, and cranberry.
Secondary and tertiary notes: tea leaf, cigar box, dried herbs (thyme/sage), leather, and a mineral edge.
Tannins: firm, linear, yet finely grained—still giving structure in 2025.
Very balanced, with a classic Montalcino savoury character.
This is not a lush or modern style Brunello—it’s elegant, slightly austere, and beautifully traditional.
Long, savoury finish with red fruit, earthy spice, balsamic hints, and lingering tobacco.
Acidity remains a key driver, giving a long, clean, classic Brunello finale.
The 2013 Col d’Orcia Brunello is a model of traditional, restrained Montalcino elegance.
Cooler-vintage freshness, taut structure, and aromatic finesse make it a wine with both serious aging potential and beautiful drinkability today after an hour of air.
